Family Violence Intervention Order
A Family Violence Intervention Order (FVIVO) is an Order of the court that provides protection from one person against family violence (in its various forms) from a family member.
‘Family member’ means people you are related to, treat like family or have had an intimate personal relationship with, whether short or long-term. It can mean a carer or support worker.
The order has conditions (rules) that the respondent must follow. If the respondent does not follow the conditions, it is very serious and the police can charge them with a criminal offence.
